Vermicomposting comes to the WNC

Several docents are competing in the Lexus EcoChallenge. They have started vermicomposting on campus and at the WNC nursery. We have 10,000 red wiggler worms turning our lunch time food scraps into beautiful compost. We hope to have worm bins available for you to take back to your classrooms real soon!

We want to teach you how to do it at your school and your homes too. It’s a lot of fun and SO good for the environment.

Click on the “Vermicomposting” tab above and the Croc’ Hunters will show you how to make your own worm bins.

Woodcreek Nature Center Welcomes You

Woodcreek H. S. science students serve as entertaining nature docents for visiting elementary students while they explore the wonders of vernal pools, wetlands and oak woodlands every spring. The high school docents perform puppet shows, skits, and even use Australian accents and act like the Crocodile Hunter. They teach science standards using engaging lessons with skulls, nests, tracks, and live animals.

We have FREE programs for 1st – 5th grade students designed to teach the appropriate grade level California science standards. Check out our programs under the “Programs” tab.
