Vermicomposting Notes

To help you make your own vermicompost bins we have created an easy to follow set of instructions that you can download below.

We also have the Croc’ Hunters on video showing you mates how to build a bin. Look under the “Keep Reading” prompt to find that video.

Why Compost?

Composting is nature’s way of recycling. It is a super beneficial way to turn waste like fruit and veggie scraps and yard trimmings into a nutrient rich soil conditioner.

1. Saves you money by lowering your water and garbage bills and it
virtually eliminates your synthetic fertilizer costs.

2. Helps garden and house plants by improving the fertility and health of
your soil.

3. Saves water by helping the soil hold moisture and reducing water runoff.

4. Benefits the environment by
a. Extending the life of landfills

b. Reducing methane (greenhouse gas) emissions from landfills

c. Greatly reducing the amount of water we use for irrigation

d. Reducing the production of synthetic nitrogen fertilizers that require
enormous amounts of energy to make.

e Reducing the number of garbage truck trips to the landfill. The
trucks burn our limited fossil fuels and generate greenhouse gases.
